Normally I'd be sitting in one of those seats with a book in hand. The Magnolia Macrophylla has not quite grown enough to provide any kind of shade year …. but one day. |
Mickey's favorite hiding spot |
Since I seem to have lost all my Agastaches this year ; I've planted a few Agastache ' Golden Jubille' , for the Chartruse foliage |
Which works so well with everything. |
Last year I moved Artemisia 'Valerie Finnis' , she can be a bit of a thug. She now sits nicely beside Carex 'blue zinger' another thug ; but she can flop over the top of him fine. |
More chartreuse from Kirengeshoma palmata , forming a nice healthy clump in the shade ; and blooms to come. |
You can't be spending a lot of time lolling in those chairs or your garden wouldn't look this good.
ReplyDeleteRicki, I really have been sitting reading all week. I've waited months for my library hold of Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch.
ReplyDeleteI've got to get through it , as I'll never be able to renew it.
Love those screens, I think they're perfect. Also loving the Artemisia 'Valerie Finnis' starts that I got from you and the last 2 swaps, THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteGood old Philip…pulling things out of the "tip" for me . 'Valerie' gets BIG !
DeleteI hope you're enjoying The Goldfinch, I loved that book. I lost all of my Agastaches this winter except for Golden Jubilee, it's the only survivor. Even though most of them were in the gravel garden, which has good drainage, they still all died. Ah well.
ReplyDeleteAlison, The weeds are flourishing , the dogs are fed up with me and bored; yes I've been enjoying very much :)
DeleteI'm pleased I made a wise choice with the 'Golden Jubilee'
If it makes you feel any better, I love quite a few Agastache as well...and the ones that returned still look a bit stunted :-(
ReplyDeleteOnly once in all my years of gardening have I been successful in wintering-over Agastache. And would you believe it's this year? And it's a red-flowered variety I found at Home Depot last summer. It's a freak of nature, I'm sure. But I really like 'Golden Jubilee.' Maybe I'll need to get me one. :) Great post. Love your garden.
