As soon as I turn my back , another old shrub disappears . Philip's been at it again. It started with the dozen Arborvitae. Then the old Philadelphus went. Last year year two twin red Rhododendrons left a huge gapping space at the front of the house!
That's when Arctostaphylos'St Helen's comes in...by the way the twin Rhododendrons are happily blooming away in the hedgerow in the company of the other Rhodys. |
Of course it was all my doing , Philip just following orders... |
And it's my fault that he's had to dig the Viburnum davidi out, why plant a tree with a beautiful trunk behind a whopping big evergreen shrub ? |
Look at all the wonderful space you made! That Philip is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteA shopping trip in order ?
DeleteYou really had me going there at the beginning, I thought Philip was going a rogue on you! Glad to know you're still the mastermind behind the garden design.
ReplyDeleteYou've emboldened me into planting out my pot bound , since it nearly died that WINTER , Astella is going in the ground. I'm hedging my bets , one bit under the Arcto, one bit in a shady area and maybes tiny bit in a pot !!!! The tree fern next ....
DeleteWhy indeed. I love that Arcto. It looks fabulous next to the bricks. I had my hubby trimming last weekend. Husbands can really earn their keep when we put them to work. :) So, I bet you've got big plans with all that fresh, bare soil.
ReplyDeleteHi Grace we missed you at the swap, perhaps the next one ? Yes husbands are , I keep promising that this is the last one that needs digging out, don't think he believes it....
DeleteIf he ever gets bored, send him my way, Linda ;-)
ReplyDeleteHaha ...I'll put that to him.
DeleteYou are lucky to be able to rein in the male tendency to go wild when loppers are at hand...shovels, maybe not so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm the lopper round here!
DeleteI'm impressed with your Philip's work! Your Arcto is beautiful.
ReplyDeletehe's had plenty of practice !
