An early morning clearance...

I got out and dug up the Japanese Anemone , day lilies and huge fern from the south/west facing corner at the back of the house. It gets the late afternoon sun. Those plants hated the summer heat. I  don't want another summer of this miserable , crispy  corner, so out they went. The Acanthus Mollis …not sure about yet !

I've been trying to get rid of a Japanese Anemone in another area,..not so easy, every tiny bit of root will grow back.
So, I'll be picking through this area for awhile .

    1. Ricki, I've already made a few additions ! Heliathemum 'cheroit' and a small kniphofia , they should enjoy the heat , and they needed to move.

  2. Your Acanthus looks quite impressive. It might be difficult to get rid of. It has been my experience that even if you remove them they come back - just like your Japanese anemone.
Goof luck with developing this corner.

    1. Alain, I think you are right about both these plants. The Acanthus will stay , I'm counting on the Salix exigua becoming a thicket and shade that corner one day.
