The self -seeding garden...

If it weren't for all my self-seeders , I'd still be waiting for all this to fill in. But , filling  in,  it is , not bad for March .

Cerinthe major is the winner for the most prolific.  Look at it taking up the whole length of the right side. It would have had the whole lot , but I went round and pulled everything except along the fence and driveway.
In close second would be Lychnis , which I didn't even plant. it's taken over the front corner , were the old Walnut tree was cut down , I couldn't get any thing to grow there till the Lychnis came in.

The Foxgloves, Achillea  and Honesty  and taking any available space.                                                                                     I 've  been careful not to stomp around in here too much. So many perennials are just now emerging .                              Of course I know who will be the winner , as always ….the 'For-get-me-not' …which I nearly forgot about , they are quietly moving in .

  2. I love my self-sowers too. I got some Honesty from you at a swap, and I'm really hoping to find some babies from them this year. I hope I can recognize them, and don't pull them out thinking they're weeds.

  3. I'm hoping for Cerinthe, but haven't spotted any yet. You have some great fillers there. Nigella became an absolute thug in my last garden, as did Borage.

    1. Ricki, I forgot to mention Nigella , it's still tiny, but everywhere. And Borage is another one I keep just along the fence, it's such a sprawler.
If you want any Cerinthe ,just let me now ?

  4. Lychnis coronaria has sown itself along my driveway but has refrained from spreading out into other areas, strangely. I have a lot of forget-me-nots coming up this year again despite my best efforts last year, so will try again this year. I love it when the vegetables reseed, like the abundant Swiss Chard that appeared last year.
