September Garden bloggers bloom day ..

Once again I've been caught out; and  forgot it was Bloom day. I did get out this morning   to take some photos. And a beautiful September morning it was. The Saccharum ravennae blooms gently swaying.

Nicotiana sylvestris self seeds, usually in the wrong places, this year I've dug a few up and   relocated them. I'm still finding new ones popping up. I wonder if they'll have time to bloom.

My favorite, of the Asters I've planted , A. laferiflorus 'prince' with it's almost black foliage; and I love these tiny daisies.

Kniphopia 'torch lilie'

I've got all my Asters confused , this could be A. woods blu' or A laevis 'kurt' or a NOID I got from my mother's. Never mind I love them all in September.

Catananche caerulea 'cupids dart' which was a late purchase this spring, finally blooming , I think it got too hot for it and it refused to bloom. I like against the smoky pink and purple stems  of the Sedum' Matrona'

One of the N. sylvestris I moved with blooming Panicum' Cheyenne Sky'

Blooming Persicara' virginiana'

And finally another Aster, which could be any of the one's I mentioned above.
Thank you Carol for hosting and here are more beautiful blooms May Dreams Gardens

  1. Need more asters. The deer nipped off the buds of N. sylvestris, but it just made it branch out and form more flowering stems. These I sprayed with disgusting gunk to discourage the little dears.

    1. Ricki, I bought all mine last spring from Joy Creek. I think I would have let the deers have them , don't like the sound of the gunk !

  2. I sowed Nicotiana sylvestris this year and only got two plants, but they are big and flowering very nicely. I hope I get more than two next year from them self-sowing.

    1. Wait till next year and the years after that , Alison. I pulled all of them up last year, thought I'd stop them seeding so much …butt no …plenty again this year.

  3. Nice! Love those asters and the nicotiana. I'm trying to get it to seed around my garden, hopefully in the right places!

    1. At least Nicotiana is easy to dig up and move around, if you're organized enough early. I just keep finding more even now… I'll leave those !

  4. Your garden looks a wonderful buffet of food for insects and pollinators - especially butterflies. Lovely to my eyes too - Happy GBBD Linda :-)

  6. Oh, you have so many beautiful Asters, Linda! I love those little daisy-like flowers too, but somehow I have severely missed out in that department. This has GOT to change!
