More seedy news...

It's August and all my seeded annuals are  blooming away. Not at all suffering from the  heat wave this week, unlike myself.  This is Salpiglossis'Kew blue' a dark velvet purpley blue, much darker in person.

Nigella hispanica 'African bride' just now starting to bloom .

My free packet of German catchfly , Lychnis viscaria , so lovely , so many tiny blooms, I 've tucked them into every available space.

Amaranth chinese giant orange not yet 8' , but getting there, which means I've planted it in the wrong place!

Nicotiana 'Crimson bedder' and ' Miss Libby'

My favorite table companion Zaluzianskya  capensis  ( zal-oo-zee-AN-skee-uh) or just Night Phlox.
Yes...it was once again, worth all the mess and fiddly seedy business of trays and compost.

  4. Zal oo zee an skee yuh. I love it! It's like Russian Sage, Per oovh skee yuh... or however you say it. :) I grew it years ago and the evening fragrance is delicious.

The Nicotiana with the color echo lily--total genius.

I have a small portion of my garden devoted to annual flowers too. I just love how you throw them down and (after lots of slug bait) they come up and bloom. Mostly this year it's dark pink bachelor buttons but next year I'll be adding Larkspur and hopefully the Sweet William I planted this year will bloom. Plus I've got three plants of 'Cherry Brandy' Black eyed Susans that I'm hoping will winter over. Fun.
