Two in bloom….

Two favorite self-seeders; Eryngium ' Mrs. Willmonts ghost' and Bupleurum rotundifolium. The Bupleurum gets better and better each year, so tall and spindly , it fits nicely into every vacant space. 

One of those mornings..

Well, It started out casually enough ….

Then escalated into this mass. Ivy, Vinca, useless Raspberry vines, dead Rhododendron, feverfew, foxgloves….

New blooms , returning blooms , unknown blooms...

This year I've let the feverfew ,  foxgloves, Erygiums  and even a few Dandelion have their merry way in my "Last frontier" garden.  I'll be pulling plenty up before they reseed this year. 

A new bloom , Anemone 'Wild swan' I remember this one winning best in show at Chelsea a few years back, Mine is  only about a foot in height, I thought it would be taller, maybe next year. Nice blooming time after the wood Anemone , before the Japanese arrive.

I could easily become a Dianthus collector , This one a favorite "Daninty Dame'

I 've dotted these Armeria Maritima "rubrifolia all over the back garden . Here with pink Gypsophila  also  dotted around . I think I've gone for the carnation family  this year , who'd a thought.

I have no idea what is one is ; but I like the tiny rose hip like flower buds . 

One of two Allium Azureum that I can see for the moment, The others ; and there should be many more , have probably been smothered by all the self-seeders I've left to rampage around the garden.

The light this morning created  a kind of  iridescent  Jacques Cousteau like image ...

This years Paulownia Tomentosa ..

 Last year my Paulownia after being cut to the ground in March ,  grew  back too much like a bean pole.  I'd only let one shoot grow , cutting the rest back. This year I've just let it grow , I think there are three shoots growing . I'm hoping this  will slow it down some. I want to say "stop right now" .

A few things in June

Normally I'd be sitting in one of those seats with a book in hand. The Magnolia Macrophylla has not  quite grown enough to provide any kind of shade year …. but one day.

Something new year this year. I've been hankering after a sort of screen all these years… a foyer really.  This could be the answer : three  shop display panels. We have been rearranging  and shifting them about. You can't see in this photo  but Grandpa Ott  has already got his tendrils twisting round the bottom corner.

Since I seem to have lost all my Agastaches this year ; I've planted a few  Agastache ' Golden Jubille'  , for the Chartruse foliage 

Which works so well with everything.

Last year I moved Artemisia 'Valerie Finnis' , she can be a bit of a thug. She now sits nicely beside Carex 'blue zinger' another thug ; but she can flop over the top of him fine.

More chartreuse from Kirengeshoma palmata , forming a nice healthy clump in the shade ; and blooms  to come.
